Not necessarily. If you're cleaning with harsh chemicals and/or steel wool or something, you're going to destroy the value. Gentle cleaners like acetone are used to lift off nasty stuff that makes the coin look bad, thereby increasing the value somewhat.

I don't know if I should give away my secret now lol. All of these were in bad shape before I cleaned them
well, it's not like they're high end coins... show what it does to the surface of a nice MS-65 morgan and we'll tell ya what we really think!
