I like this angle better. Both are great, but this is my favorite. I don't see how the "before" turns into the "after"! Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Wow! No, let me say that again. WOW! No, let me have my cat Bean say that one more time... What a stunning coin, and portrait! What a piece of history! Fine style, too. And what a superb conservation job. Looks sharper than my Hadrian sestertius! Look at the beard details on your coin! From the condition, I would imagine that was dropped during Hadrian's reign, if not too long after.
Thank you LM..It's really hard to find a Roman bronze coin in this condition..I would be lucky if I find one like this out of the 50 I find..I always tell collectors that it is best to buy large, high-quality bronze, because that is truly the best value for your money...Because, don't forget, when you see photos of beautiful bronzes at auctions, they didn't come out of the ground like that, effort and had to be invested in cleaning them and preserving them....
I agree 110%! It's so difficult for me, living in SW Louisiana where anything left outside rusts, to visualize that the "after" came out of the "before"! Unbelievable cleaning job @galba68, and I applaud you for your determination and tenacity to continue searching, and finding what would otherwise be "lost history". You have no idea how many times I've been right there with you, but only in my mind. I respect you too much to make you put up with my company, lol. What's the old saying, "I wouldn't belong to any club that would have me for a member", lol. Keep on keeping on! Blessings, Kenneth
