    I do too.

Listen people, anyone at all reading. I have personally seen and bought "original rolls", and this crap on ebay, nearly everything I have ever seen there, are NOT original rolls. THey are cheap comeons designed ONLY to cheat you. DO NOT EVER buy rolls will ends showing, they are not worth it, seriously.

Btw, anyone else catch the major error with this listing? At the time these "rolls" would have been put aside, there WAS NO Bank of America, it was called Bank of Italy back then. Just further proof.......

denvercertifiedcoins was certifying their own coins (including counterfeit coins) a couple years ago. I thought there was a thread about it here, but I cannot find it now.

I think you picked out a very important part of the listing "Up for auction is what looks like an old bank wrapped roll....." - IS WHAT LOOKS LIKE !!!

I guess technically he doesn't claim it is anything in particular but allows the bidders imagination to run wild.

I wonder if that type of wording is OK with ebay?

Suppose someone lists "4 oz ingot which looks like 0.9999 fine gold bar" and delivers base metal? Probably we agree that it is deceptive, but is it technically disallowed by a specific ebay policy?

The plot thickens. eBay says past 30 days so they are out. I still have 14 or so days to neg him. However I suspect he will make good. Counterfeiting is a federal offense, and this case would be dealt with by the us attorney in Nevada, not Colorado. Feds don't play games in Nevada. Given it would be cheaper to refund instead of flying to Nevada and dealing with this I suspect this will have an acceptable ending. Oh and the 1909 s graded 63 rb s, so that helps. He did respond in a reasonable manner when I opened the case but I also think he might be trying to wait my 60 day feedback out so I told him he has five business days to resolve this. After that I'll just neg and call the Nevada us attorney's office.

To those asking why I bought the rolls I just felt like gambling. I've been collecting for many a year and for the last five or so years I would buy on eBay and sell to dealers at the Las Vegas numismatic Society coins show. (Next one is April 4-6. Let me know if you are in town we can get lunch at the plaice station). I would usually only make about 5% ish profit but I also get eBay bucks which gives me another 2%. If you sell at this show you have met me before. I'm the guy with 5-6 boxes of toned coins in a small luggage bag with the long handle. Since I approach every dealer someone on this board might remember me. I usually only show up for one day. Besides everyone needs a hobby. I would come home after work and surf eBay at night before going to bed. My thing is buying good toned coins with bad photos that were certified. One poster on another thread recently referenced this concept. But I'm getting bored with this so I thought I'd have some fun and try something new. The money isn't the issue I just want what I was promised an s mint Indian and a 1909 s penny. I figure if I can drop cash in the casino I can drop some cash on coin blackjack. It is one thing to sell me a roll with crap but I'm not ok with counterfeit coins. I found some nice Indian cents in the roll but those are not back yet from pcgs. Makes me wonder if they are also counterfeit. If so my position will become full refund only. I'll post a follow up when they grade. The reason I didn't get them back yet is they were normal submissions and these two coins were conservation. Hence the different release dates. Thanks for the eBay advise. Hopefully see you in april.

Ps I am somewhat impressed with the conservation service both coins had goop on them but they came back almost totally normal.

I hope my post didn't offend you sir. I wanted to just strongly post to let others know, (many more people read this site than are members), that these rolls on ebay are simply coin grab bags, never truly unsearched.

I gamble on group lots, blurry photos, etc. However, I try to gamble where tbe odds are not stcked so high in the house's favor.

I will take you up someday on palace station. I am usually more a main st station guy, but have heard all station buffets are good.

If that's the case, then we all should put him on our list of blocked sellers. I will right now.

Raw? How about "DONT BUY THESE PUT TOGETHER ROLLS OFF EBAY!"

I simply cannot believe that the OP actually paid that much money for this scammy crap shoot!

You know people, coin rollers can be purchased and, given the outcome of this particular listing, they'll pay for themselves. Looking at the sellers feedback reveals that this seller has scammed hundreds of folks and some for quite a bit of money based upon the sellers LIES!

ANYBODY that bids on these insane "put together rolls" really needs to seriously educate themselves.

I was not offended by anyone's posts. Collectors here had good advise for people they assumed were new to the hobby. How can I be offended by people trying to help me?

Dude I'm not eating at the palace station except April 4-6. But it is the largest show in Vegas, even if it is not the most expensive (the pcgs members only show has this title covered). We can do lunch somewhere nicer during non coin show days. I'll treat.

But if you are at the April show I'm usually there during the am through to the afternoon on so feel free to find me or plan something

This is a recent example of what I normally do on eBay.
Ms 66 1892 ngc Colombian grey sheet today =$800
Coinfacts-$650-880 (my coin i think is nicer then the link to the 880 coin sold at ha. Judge for yourself) http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?hdnJumpToLot=1&saleNo=1191 &lotNo=4833&x=0&y=0
Cats to prove I actually own the coin

I seriously doubt that the US Attorney would pay any attention to your problem since there is no way you could prove that the seller actually "counterfeited" the coin. The ONLY thing that you CAN prove, is that PCGS "thinks" its a counterfeit AND you purchased it from the eBay seller. That would even be difficult since the coin was originally in a roll which has been disassembled.

I would advise you to file a SNAD with eBay and then PayPal. And by all means, don't stop at your first attempt.

Have you called eBay or simply gone through the online stuff?

It's possible PCGS may have been wrong . I'm wondering if the place on the rim below the date may have been why the coin was detemined to be counterfeit,if so then maybe they goofed up. It would not be the first time.

    The us attorney himself, no
The office of the us attorney, yes. Such was my sisters advise and she is a federal public defender in Vegas. I figure it would be her colleagues so she might be right. She said at a minimum there would be enough of a hassle to make resolving the situation cheaper and easier. The Feds really don't mess around down here. Besides according to your logic anyone could sell counterfeit coins and never be arrested, which I think is not the case.

I called eBay and did the snad but they said it was after the 30 days so they are out. The guy offered to pay me what I asked for three hundred dollars. He has been polite and rather nice. My real only concern is the other coins pending at pcgs. I'm giving him a few days to PayPal me and only after I have the cash will I send the coin back to him.

I'll make updates as needed and if the coins do grade I'll show pics

I gotta agree with you but not only that, look at how many bidders were trying to buy that "unsearched" roll, there were 27 bids. That's crazy, I guess there's a lot of gamblers taking a chance with "unsearched" rolls. Unbeefreakinlievable!! :D

Very rapid update. My paypal has the three hundred I asked for. If there are no further counterfeits I am ok with the transaction. Again will update

If I may say so, the MO of many such sellers is to be very considerate when they're caught/called out as showing their true colors would be bad business. It is similar to how some of the worst ebay dreck peddlers also have some of the best return policies; it keeps them out of trouble and their feedback up, but when you think of how much they do get away with, your $300 is a drop in the bucket and a small cost to continue doing business as-is. I can only assume that had you not submitted, you may not have known the truth for at least some time, and this is what these guys count on. While I am glad you were reimbursed an amount you believe fair, please do not assume this guy to be fair; his actions were almost certainly done in his best interests and not in yours.
