Maybe yes, maybe no. But if you don't want to get down and dirty with nature then it's a no. I'm sure, for @paddyman98 it might possibly be a great way to get away from the hectic days he endures in the city. Plus the fun of the comaradarie with his club members. Neither of us is likely to get rich or find something rare but that's not really the entire point. For me, it's a kind of therapy, much like my gardening. I started out looking for coins but have found very few. Instead I have dug countless historical items related to the past farming communities that enveloped this area from the beginning of local villages inceptions. Many old tools and other farm implements that I've saved from the ravages of time. Many in nice condition. And then to find an old dump yielding scores of antique bottles by chance. I'm like a kid in a candy store. All this has given me a wealth of info into how people lived and treated themselves. And I feel good when I come home, exhausted, dirty yes, but I have had a ton of fun.
