    EDIT: Bustie, not "bus tie".

My birthday gift to myself arrived today! A nicely toned 1823 Capped Bust. I was the only bidder on somewhat sub-par photos, and asked the seller a little bit about the coin since I couldn't see some of the details. Just arrived today and I am pretty excited about it. Beautiful cartwheel luster and stunning rim toning ranging from blues to a russet. Apologies about the photos since college is still going on and I do not have my full photo setup with me.

I'd think it could go AU50-53.

I was wondering about that. For a minute there, I thought it was about a Trailways dress code.

Happy Birthday and good luck finishing up your collegiate activities.
Great pick up, looks like it's been residing in that 2x2 for sometime.

    I'll get closer photos soon.

The seller told me he actually broke it out from an AU53 ANACS slab some years ago (he said he didn't like slabs) and it's been in this holder ever since.

Anyone feel like venturing a general price range? From what I understand, 1823 is one of the less common dates. Ebay is showing sold listings for XF40-45 coins ranging from $250-350 (which is still more than I paid for this coin), so my gut was that if it graded at AU50-53 it could potentially bring maybe $300-400...thoughts?

Really attractive coin. Looks AU from the photographs. I could agree with the AU 50-53 range. Price range? Hard to tell.I think you are in the ballpark.
