I&#039;ve decided since then I wanted to become an expert on counterfeit coins, especially gold coins. Not altered coins, just counterfeit gold. I have several books on the subject. I took a class at the ANA convention in phoenix and it had an 8 hour counterfeit detection class. I got to look at tons of counterfeit gold. It was wonderful and gave me great confidence. I asked Brian Silliman if I could spot most counterfeits, and he said I could. I was very flattered by that comment. I still try to look at as many gold coins as I possibly can so I know by color when a gold coin just isn&#039;t &quot;right&quot;.Ever since then it seems almost every coin I&#039;ve gotten Ive worried about it in some form or another, that&#039;s it faked, been cleaned, tampered with, to a ridiculous point. It&#039;s frusterated alot of people, made the most patient people hate me, and I used to get into fights in message boards and was banned from several.</p><p><br /></p><p>Eventually as I matured into a young man, I realized arguing with people was useless and I did not get into any fights or arguments. Now I just realize everyone has their own opinion and if they disagree with you thats perfectly okay.</p><p><br /></p><p>Now with this coin, I had it and showed it on the NGC boards, and Munkyman, (chad) there told me it looked cleaned. I told mark this, and having seen the coin and been an ex-NGC grader, he told me with confidence this coin wasn&#039;t cleaned, and was fine and orgininal. Several other people on different forums told me from the pictures, it looked fine, orgininal. I was at first worried about the coin being cleaned, but if you think about it there&#039;s no reason it would be, it&#039;s graded by NGC, has a CAC sticker, and has been looked at by an ex-NGC grader (Mark).</p><p><br /></p><p>I&#039;m not worried about it anymore, and I love the coin and will keep it, I guess it&#039;s just everyone has different opinions, and as long as *I&#039;m* happy with it, (which I am) other peoples opinion doesn&#039;t matter.
