    Very very sad. It happened to me once I shipped a gold coin to england and was stolen . Unfortunately the thief never get caught. I am guessing they might melt the gold and sell it since it would be hard for them to sell these on coin market which is very sad and loss for a valuable ancient coin.

    That's very odd as they definitely weren't without bids (I know I clicked Bid several times on a few). Maybe they failed to meet a reserve or were updated as unsold after they were found to be stolen.

    I’ve heard unconfirmed reports that the FedEx driver was murdered in the robbery. Given that that information is not shown anywhere, I think it might be a tall tale.

    Well, if they are insured for the reserve amounts, then the consignor could have had the package stolen so he/she could get the money that he/she was wanting for the coins.
