Today is all most over, out West we have a few hours left. been in the kitchen cooking all day, start off at the store, looked like Christmas shopping. made Lobster bisque from scratch. here's my Valentine feast! Top left home made croutons in my lobster bisque, below left small part of lobster tail, top 6 large prawns to the right melted butter, no fresh crab so went with frozen King crab right top. center need to have a Caesar on the plate, with a Ribeye and herb seasoning. Made a berry pie to top it off. now we need a couple Valentinian coins to top off our day. Valentinian l 364-375 AD. Reduced follis Siscia mint 18mm x 2.75g. And, Valentinian ll 375-392 AD. AE. Siscia mint. 22mm x 4.61g. So feel free to post your Val's story or a few coins!!
Wow, that's a sweet Surf-n-Turf Valentine's Day spread, my romantic West Coast coin-friend (hope the night went well ... the dinner looks awesome) cheers, coin-bro
Great meal and nice coins...but now it's Presidents day' !!! So, I'll throw in a Valentine (II) and President (Potential):
That's some impressive cooking John! I also made a Valentine's Day surf-and-turf feast, bit didn't take a pic of it. Grilled filet mignon, bacon-wrapped scallops, home fries with sun-dried tomatoes, and asparagus. So, the next time we're out West, can we dine at Eng's Eatery?
I can take that kind of meal over a coin any day! Well.... it depends on the coin eh? Great cookin' Eng!
Thanks folks, hope all you ladies had a great day!! a good meal is here today and gone tomorrow, but a Ancient coin will last a thousand life times.
WOW ENG, that looks sooooooooooooooo good! i took my wife to a japanese place, i don't have cooking skills.
I have always loved Steve's coin shown here. Does anyone know why we see two geese and an ivy leaf with H here but the more common one is one goose with a lizard?
Hmmm, are you asking because you don't know, or are you asking us and you already know the answer to the quiz question? (sadly, I don't know the answer, either way) Oh, and although I do still think that the Goose & Lizard type is a total winner, my double-goose seems quite rare and is very sweet looking. => here is my example of the good ol' Goose & Lizard Hey, when I went searching for an answer to Doug's question, I stumbled across my exact coin on Wildwinds (it's at the very bottom of this page) ... kinda cool, eh? http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/macedonia/eion/t.html Ummm, I couldn't find another example of the double goose on Wildwinds or in the CNG archives (wow, my sweet lil' Valentine's Day coin seems quite rare ... well "rare" is often over-used ... but maybe it's at least kinda scarce, eh?)
For valentine's breakfast, sweet potato pancakes, scrambled eggs from the farm of Jay Hill and applesauce. Why are my food pick better than my coin pics? Cipius because I am glad she doesn't make pretend to be asleep so she can fool around. And for desert, a cake. Actually that is the cake I gave her for our 40th.
