All the best with it, Smojo. I recently went through BD with a blank flan.

    BD sucks so bad. :(

No need for that! The record is corrected. Some of us will sleep better knowing that our coins will still be around another week or two. ;)

I honestly dismissed your post as soon as I read it. I work with titanium & various aircraft metals so I'm not completely ignorant on what corrosion does & how fast it can or can not leave irreplaceable damage.
That and the fact that the coin obviously had it when I bought it, most likely 2-3 months ago.
It's all good though I can and have been a smart as on here as well.

Well, damage can appear to occur at an accelerated pace on some of these coins if BD in the interior is far worse than anything that shows up on the surface. It is my understanding that BD can occur on the inside too. Please correct if I'm mistaken.

    IMHO, you are not mistaken.

Thanks for the new pic, Alegandron. :D

I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and I love stupid humor.

Now that we finally have WiFi at home, (we were stuck in the dark ages of dial up until 2 weeks ago), I've been re-watching TNG and checking out TOS. Good stuff!

LOL, yeah, stupid humor is needed here! Sometimes we all take ourselves a little too seriously! :D :D :D Life is just too short to miss out on the fun!

    I dont doubt it.
The damage were I was able to get that crap off at is viewable with the eyes. Using Kentucky's suggestion I was able to get a lot off at the surface anyway.

Here is after using baking soda, water then rinsed with distilled.
I was thinking more had been removed (just got in from work). Although can see the pitted areas around nose & mouth, then between 10 & 11 o'clock and at the edge. I gave a whole $2.25 for it but now it's costing more in time & the worry for my other coins. Was purchased from a reputable seller known on CT but want to leave it at that.

It is good experience. Give the green bits a poke, if they are hard, they are fine. If flaky, dig them out and re-treat.

Oh I think I couldve gone the rest of my life without the experience. I'm mostly worried about my others. A couple mean a lot to me & to me irreplaceable.

I've gotten a bunch of great advice it is much appreciated. While it's still a work in progress I believe it's isolated. None of my coins that were stored in the same container show any signs. All the same I will keep the lot separate from others & not add anymore to those. After the initial scare I realized how fortunate I was to have a place to turn with solid advice. And that it's a small by comparison & could've been so much worse.
@Kentucky thanks for your recommendation. I eventually made a paste of baking soda & distilled water made a huge difference. Treating and will follow with Verdicare.
    Much thanks to everyone.

Actually a mixture of baking soda and washing soda is the recommended treatment. (Sodium Bicarbonate and Sodium Carbonate for you chemists out there)

Ha Ha, yeah I'm definitely no chemist. The only word I knew was baking soda. Had to ask wife what the word you used for "a lot of water" was.
Made a paste with distilled water and soaked it for a day rinsed and soaking again. The pics are after a day of soak. Improved greatly.
