I just got back into collecting in 2019 after a long time, last time I had collected ancients was over 20 years ago. I still had some of my favorite coins but had sold quite few of them in hard times. I went way over my budget for the year and will have to slow down some this coming year. Not really sure what order to put all my coins in but my number 1 and 2 I have no doubt about for me. So here they are let me know your favorites please. Hope everyone has a super year in 2020 collecting coins ! My number 1 favorite Carthago Nova ,Iberia, c. 237 - 206 B.C. Spain, Carthago Nova Æ Unit. Roman Occupation after 209 BC. All your coins are great and would fit into just about any Ancient's collection. I like several of them, but if I have to pick my top two, I would say the Julian II and the Caligula Rome mint. But others could easily be my top choices as well.
Those are some fine picks, @bcuda. Looks like you had a great first year getting back to Ancients. I can imagine how each of those coins were satisfying to win. 1,2,3 and 5 are my favorites.
Your list is stunning in 2109 or 2019 my favs are the Julian II and the Caligula piece, rest are very nice also. I can hardly wait for your 2109 list! John
I like the Caligula / Vesta. It is the less common of the two obverse legends found with these and overall an attractive coin.
Your coins are great, especially the Caligula and Julian II. I hope I make it til 2109 - but I probably won't.
I like all the coins. My favorites are the Julian II, the Caligula, and the thick Castulo 2nd Century BC. Dupondius.
1, 3, 4 and 8 for me please The Julian is outstanding, I love how the horse on the iberian unit is stylized, and your #1 deserves being #1 for the distinctive portrait That said, I have a soft spot for the Castulo Q
Nice coins @bcuda. And welcome back to world of collecting. Your coins are really nice, but i think no.2 is quite special.
You had a wonderful year! The Caligula and the Julian II are jaw-dropping, but the most interesting is the Karbika -- it has a very captivating artistic style and it's certainly not something one sees every day. Hope 2020 is good to you! Happy collecting!
Thank you @Roman Collector for the 2020 wish, I hope it is a good year but I am going to have to be a little more picky and not try to buy everthing out there. And for the same exact reason you mention is why I just had to have the Karbika. The artistic style compared to most of the Karbika and other Iberian coins that I have looked at and love is over the top.
Thank you @Limes Once I acquired the Scipio Africanus I knew that I would have to have His arch nemesis Hannibal. These silver Hannibal coins can put a dent in the budget fast. After purchasing this one I have been looking at other Carthaginian coins. I can see me becoming addicted to the coins from the second punic war.
