It looks much nicer in your photo and looks like it might have a pedigree from the toning. I wonder if someone found a pedigree for it and is now trying to buy it?

CoinArchives doesn't add many pieces to the census here although Greek fractions are a relatively thin market.

Maybe it would be worth reaching out to a VCoins dealer to see if they'd take it on consignment and start at a price of $1K, saying you'll give them ~10-15%. That will get more eyes on it and help a dealer rather than the behemoth that is Heritage. Nice coins are hard to come by at the moment and yours is one!

Just read a synopsis of this book & immediately bought it on Amazon - be here tomorrow! Sounds like a fabulous read! Thanks Ed!

I ordered it as well and really enjoyed the opening chapter ... which inspired me to purchase a coin (soon to be revealed).

Coincidentally, the author Adrienne Mayor was recently interviewed on one of my favourite podcasts about her latest book Gods and Robots.

    Ordered that book too!

I'm fairly active on Heritage and they have this rather cool MOTO (Make Offer To Owner) option where anyone can make an anonymous offer to an owner. Your coin is very nice and the most recent example of a Ch. VF Tetrobol sold by them was in 2019. Not the same as your example but a quick search showed a lower grade coin sold for $200 in June:

If the coin doesn’t fit in your collection and if you'll regret rejecting the offer, I’d say it’s a good deal doubling your money and suggest you buy something you’ve always wanted but have been putting off for a while. Alternatively, make a counter offer of 15-20% more and see how badly the buyer wants it. My personal experience with counter offers has been 2:1, so overall a 67% success rate. But with my limited knowledge of ancients, I'll probably be told by the experts that I've picked the wrong example above, as a comparison:D:D

Good luck whatever you decide:) and do let us know the result.

My opinion, FWIW, is "Don't sell it." It is a great coin, scarce, to say the least, and a pleasure to behold, every time you look at it.
Unless a hoard of them is found, my bet is that it will continue to rise in price.
The NAC example is instructive as to value. Is it worth at least HALF of their price realized???
Soooo, if you must sell it, consign it to NAC or CNG and let the market tell you the price. Do not accept $800.
    My humble opinion.
