Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to get a pristine roll of buffalo or ocean in view nickels from the banks. None of the five+ banks I tried were able to provide me with one.

Well many people set up trades with people they knew....that way they got them for face even if their bank didn't get them.
I trade with a few friends...and one doesn't get anything so he trades money for rolls from me....then my other buddy who gets D's sends them to both of us.

With all due respect, why are you calling ME belligerant? I simply posted to let others know that alot of good deals can be had on eBay right now and I get all these arrogant posters who think they can just change the entire thead into a forum for their own sarcastic and condescending remarks on how they think the collecting world should think and act regarding nickel rolls......ARRRRHHH!

If you don't like what I like then start your own thread ASKING for people's opinions about it. God there is so much immaturity here....! Anonymity gives alot of folks a big ego to the detriment of those who want to simply share info with others. If you can't get that then start your own website and let the majority of us here have fun sharing info........

    Speedy,

Not sure how old you are or how experienced with life, but we do not live in a perfect world, where everybody is always in a perfect position to capitilize on things. If we did, then there would be no poverty, everyone would have bought IBM and Microsoft stocks in the beginning, we'd all have every coin we need, etc. Well you get my drift. If you read these forums, alot of people couldn't get the bank rolls you talked of even when they were available, due to them living in rural areas, not enouugh money to due having a baby, and a million other reasons. You should try to be a little more understanding of other people's view's and preferences, and we'll be understanding of yours!

    Peace,

    JJ

You might as well learn to like it :D
This place is called CoinTalk Forum...a forum is a place for people to post their ideas and thoughts on Coin Topics....the way we do that is to post in threads that anyone starts....this was a coin topic....and anyone can post in it...their ideas...their thoughts...as a Moderator I watch for condescending, sarcastic, post....so far this thread hasn't gotten to that point--I hope it doesn't.

My age has nothing to do with this topic---and yes I understand that this world isn't perfect.

    I read them everyday--many times a day

I live in a pretty rural (but getting bigger all the time) town...and I think that every bank in this town must have gotten them....they come in change everyday.

And I'm sorry.....I read every post with an open mind....

    Q

    The sentence that you posted:

"I didn't ask for your opinion on who likes Mint wrapped nickels"

Is considered by most normal people as beligerent, in your face, confrontational.

Persoanlly, I didn't read your message as so benign. I read it as a hard sell, and it sounds like spam. Its full of hypeperbolia and unprovable claims, all laid out in rapid fashion. My stock broker also sounds like this sometimes.

I sort of gave you a pass on that. I figured your probably some kid oversold on the hype and marketing clap trap.

But now you've become defensive and beligerent at being very mildly challenged. Thats almost always a bad sign of a more devious motivation.

But, hey, I'm not a moderator here. I have my own mailing lists which I moderate. But I'll just close on a couple of points.

First: This is an open forum, not PR vehicle for any business interests. If someone disagrees with what you post, you can expect them to pipe up and say something. This is not your personal news letter to intereted investors.

Secondly: If you didn't mean to sound as i described, you need to write in a more personal style and with less hype. People here are capable in reading and making judgements without a hard sell.

Thirdly: When I cut and paste your first post and run it against my SpamAssasign mail filters, you tripped the spam filter. This says to me that my impression is correct. In a dispassionate test, your message had all the properties of spam.

This is not beligerent? How do YOU describe telling someone to get off your thread and make your own thread?

Hey guys, let's keep the conversation on the topic of the coins, not on the topic of who's beligerant. Thanks!

    Westward Journey Medal Set 2005

Now that we all calmed down, here is, in my opinion a good buy. Between 12-23-05 and 12-27-05, I bought 3 W J 2005 medal sets for the following prices:
    1 - $26.66
    2 - $25.50
    3 - $19.99

Shipping in all cases kept the total price under $30.00. This set minted on 75,000 and I have been trying to buy a few more, but the price has jumped to $35.00 to $48.00. On ebay, timing is a very key factor. Sometimes the difference in price can be a day or the hour in which the auction ends. You need to study the trends carefully and put your max bids in accordingly.
That being said, the fact that i just posted this response will make it more difficult to get another few sets at a bargin price, but not everything has to be about money, sometimes a public service is more satisfying. Good luck bidding. No, at this time i am not selling, but I am starting to plan in that direction. Do your homework and you can make some money on a consistent basis. This year coming 2006 will be a great opportunity to buy and sell on ebay. There will be many sleepers out there.

    Happy New Year!!!

I think you did alright BWJR (just speculation), personally, the only reason I bought them was because people will someday pay a lot for them due to the fact they are mint wrapped. I do plan to crack open some rolls I got from the bank for the sum of 2.00 dollar per roll : ), I hope you don't plan to crack yours open, as they are probably the same quality of what you can get at the bank.

    Westward Journey Medal Set

    Zaneman,

I am talking about the four coin set with a gold dollar two 2005 nickels and a special L & K medal. This set was $19.95 at the mint and only 75,000 sets were minted. I am not talking about rolls.

    Thanks,

    BWJR
