Was planning on going to another local bid board that ended today, but traffic was just too bad. The freeway in my area was shut down most of the morning and afternoon because of a major accident so getting to that shop just wasn't an option. Oh well...

I still was able to go to the post office in town to pick up a package that was waiting for me. I recently won an auction for a little over $50.00 face value of Barber coinage (halves, quarters & dimes) that were in 2x2 holders. There are about 50 halves, about 80 quarters and around 70 dimes. The coins range in grades from AG up to around VG and a few of the dimes are F/VF condition. Some of the coins also have some problems such as scratches, cleaning, rim dings, etc., but most of the coins are decent average circulated coins.

I thought the group was a pretty neat lot and I really like circulated Barbers. I knew I'd be able to use several of them to fill holes and upgrade coins in the Dansco albums I have which I have been filling with ciruculated Barbers. I also knew I'd have fun going through them

At the time I won the auction, silver was still up over $40/oz. and I was able to win all of the coins for under their silver melt value. Now that silver has gone down to around $30/oz., I'm in the coins for slightly above their silver melt value, but I still feel that I received a good deal on the lot. Haven't gone through them yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so! I'll update if I find anything really neat in these coins.
