I think he's telling you that the bank is there to serve the banking needs of the public and business communities and that they have a product to move in the most efficient way possible, not to serve as an individual hunting ground for the numismatic community.

If you know the teller, perhaps you could arrange with them that when they come on shift they could set up their station with a pre-determined number of halves, which you would then purchase that day.

Otherwise, if you want to have it your way, try Burger King.

That's your first mistake. You want to talk to the bank manager. Not to a vice president. Not to your "personal banker." Not to a customer service representative or a teller or even the teller supervisor. Only the bank manager is authorized to cut corners on policy for you. When any of these others tells you, "Sorry," understand, what they're really saying is, "I don't have the authority." They're just not telling you that. The bank manager, on the other hand, has the authority to honor your reasonable requests. Why don't you try that, and see how far you get. For you to get those halves you used to get and are still seeking, this is still a no-brainer entry in their vault book, that's all. Tell them you'll take the rolls "unaudited," use that word, that's important. In effect, you'll just be on the back end. On the front end were the customers who redeemed the rolls for cash. You're on the other end requesting to pay the bank exactly what it paid its customers for the rolls. If your bank, via its top agent (the bank manager), isn't willing to undertake that slight inconvenience for you...again, Carl, you want to ask yourself, "What the heck am I letting them hold my money for?"

The problem in my area is that most all banks are becoming Bank of America or Chase. I presently have accounts in 5 banks and they are all becoming cold to everyone. More and more rules are being imposed by Bank of America. One teller told me that anyone making a transaction taking money out must show an ID. I asked what if it was your husband. She said a teller was recently dismissed for just that. All of these banks USED to have personal for just the safe deposit boxes. Now none do. Chase now has a policy that only customers with savings accounts can have a safe deposit box. I wanted to put my Son and his wife on my safe deposit boxes accounts. I was told they must be here in person to add those names. They live in a different state but that makes no difference.
Like I said banking around here is becoming a pain in the ........

Ostensibly, competition among banks should in theory let you find a bank that's helpful to you. I'd ditch BoA just on principle.

i work for a bank and we get our coin from brinks. the only time we can request certian coinage is when there is a new state quarter or presidential dollars. besides that they are brinks rolls in clear plastic. but even now that has slowed. sometimes i see customers bring in the new coins before we have them. we can get $2's though. usually new ones. we get those from brinks also but get them in BEP bundles.

Will not let my comments or thoughts about BOA and Chase be known here as I will definatly get a warning about crossing the line. (Looks around for a pail to bail out the water from the sinking ship.)

The banks in my area order new coins, but they don't always get enough to supply collectors. Lots of them havea two dollar limit on the new 2009 cents. They are only alowed one box per week?

At my local bank I called and asked if they had any rolls of the new lincolns. The teller was very nice and said she doesn't but would be glad to order some rolls for me in her next order and mabye i would get lucky. Not only that but she took my number and said she would call me when they came in so I didn't have to try to keep checking in. I thought that was very nice. She said I could order whatever whenever I would like.
