I avoid all such large coin shows. After many, many years of coin shows I've found as a rule that the larger the show, the higher the prices of the coins.
At almost every large coin or even other shows, there is usually a parking fee, entrance fee, food and drink prices are excessive. And I guess there are reasons for those. I know dealers come from all over, pay for rooms in hotels, pay more for tables, pay for food on the road which costs more than at home, transportation costs and lots more. So naturally all these costs are added on to the cost of the coins. I've found this to be true of not only coin shows, but gun shows, knife shows, computer shows, etc.
Naturally for many people there is little choices in the matter since not everyone has numerous coins shows to choose from.
Here in Illinois there are a minimum of 4 coin shows a Month, every month, all year long including on Holidays. And these have no parking fees, no entrance fees, decent prices for food and drinks.
Naturally the larger the show, the larger the variety of merchandise though.

There are advantages to both small and large shows, each are unique and enjoyable in their own way. Each also have their drawbacks. Small shows have less selection, though are less expensive to attend and probably more easy to approach dealers and ask questions, while larger shows have much more material to choose from, many more dealers to talk to - that is their big advantage, which to me is more important to helping me find the special and specific coins I look for. I wouldn't knock either style of show - attending either can be a positive experience, depending on what you're looking for and your own personality.

My top wantlist priorities are not rare, but they are tough to find the way I want them.
I'm after coins in the XF to MS-63 range slabbed by PCGS or NGC, although because of catalog value I have to drop back to VF for some.
Couple that with wanting Classic Head half cents and Capped Bust half dimes and they are tough to find.
I want a 1915-S Lincoln cent in XF or AU. If you read Lange's book you'll find that they mostly grade higher or lower. (I'll be visiting Charmy about this today.)
    Same with a 1915-S Buffalo.

Anyway, the point of all this is that I need the big shows to even stand a chance of finding this material.
