Got it raw and walked it right over to the NGC table for an Early Bird grading (about 14 days.)</p><p>There&#039;s divided opinion (by those who know) whether this coin will even get slabbed.</p><p>Apparently the thinking is, if there&#039;s any doubt PCGS and NGC won&#039;t slab a coin.</p><p>If it <u>DOES</u> get slabbed, I&#039;m pulling for an XF-40, but reality says VF-something.</p><p>If it gets body bagged, the dealer will refund my money.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>And now for the last coin I bought.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>4. An 1877 Indian Head Cent, PCGS XF-45.</p><p>The guy I bought it from is my favorite dealer and a small cent specialist.</p><p>Apparently the 1877&#039;s are notorious for weak strikes, almost to the point that a full strike doesn&#039;t exist.</p><p>My XF-45 has a better strike than an AU-53 that he had. The -53 was graded that way because of having a lot of mint red.</p><p>He even showed me an MS-65 and an MS-66. On both of them the diamonds were weak so they are not used as markers for grading. Apparently the neck beads and something else(?) are the primary diagnostics.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I&#039;ll have pictures of the IHC and Jeff tomorrow or Sat, and the 1798 cent when it comes back.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
