Got to love how fast he got the listing up... almost a 100% markup too. At least on the non-gold ones they're only marking it up 50%.

Oh well, free market and all that, think it's too much don't have to pay it and can try your luck getting thru to the Mint over the phone.

    this is just pathetic.

I do think the message that comes up is a generic 'unavailable' message. The massive influx of people trying to access their internet server, must have crashed it.

I just cant believe in all the mints 'wisdom' they would decide to shut down their internet catalog at NOON the day of a huge oder. they are seriously NOT smart at times, but this is even beyond them for stupidity. So i am just going to believe we just over loaded their server :D

Yep, you should have. The Mint clearly stating they'd be accepting orders at noon. Good luck trying to get through. I gave up and decided a 50% markup was worth making someone else try to get on the phone for me lol... at least I'll have the coins this year and not have to wait 2 years, like I did with the Marine Corps dollar.

Last I'll post in this thread lol... been posting too many times in the same thread saying about the same thing.

That's another possibility. I recall attempting to get Worlds Series tickets from the Rockies' website had about the same experience lol... guess this one is going to sell fast.

I tried for about 10 min got through after hitting redial about 25 times spoke to rep and got my order in. I could barely understand her I had to repeat myself several times to make sure my order was right but she was very nice and said they had a massive load of calls at the same time(probably call centers for dealers)
    anyway good luck everybody
just keep trying you will get through.

I have my impression of the 'unable to answer...' message down perfectly!

Troodon you're probably smart in paying markup. The time I'm wasting and irritation would probably be worth it. And if you're looking at it as an investment at all, I think you're still going to pay off.

I got through on the 2nd call. The prompt said 1 for new order, 2 for existing order, I punched 2 and waited about two minutes and then placed an order. I was told they would start shipping on the 18th of this month. Good luck to everyone.

i was shocked at the responce from the rep and my mind shut down. however i was persitant and 1 hr later got to the holding pattern and 15 minutes later at 10:15 got my order completed. troodon just keep hitting redial eventually it will pay off and maybe try hitting 0 instead of 1 at the messages prompt. good luck to you all.

You guys got lucky. I've tried longer and still can't get in and that's by selecting 0

I don't invest in coins, I collect them lol... I just want to own the coins, I couldn't care less if they go up or down in value down the road. To me the markup is worth avoiding the hassle of repeatedly re-dialing (especially since I only have a cell and not a land-line phone). Same reason I'll pay extra for say, a gallon of milk, in a convenience store when that's all I need and don't have the time it takes to stand in a grocery store line, dpesite the fact the grocery store sells milk cheaper. If I need a full cart of groceries that's a different story.

I've already determined from past experience that as far as "luck" goes in ever getting through on a clogged phone line or website, I just don't have any. I'll only ever get through when nobody but me is trying, which will defnitely not be the case here.

I just did a quick calculation at the 2 hour mark.

For the halves, limited to a total of 750,000 production, if they were to sell out right...now (at the 2 hour mark), it would take 6,250 units sold per minute. I'm sure that's faster than what's really happening, but given the speed of sellout on Martha Washington's (limited further per unit, higher-priced item, lower mintage), it can't be too much longer. Unless they literally only have a few reps on the phones, I can't see these making it through the day.

Yea! I placed my order! (took about 1/2 hour)
I just hope the coin and medal set I bought for my dad's birthday gets here before his birthday on 3/31 - the mint said the coin and medal set are not shipping until 3/15.
Remember the rare ones will be the uncirculated ones - those mintages are always lower than the proofs on the commemeratives.

After calling off and on from 1200, i finally got through at around 200pm, on hold for about 5 minutes and placed my order.

Keep trying. At least the "0" option puts you on hold instead of just ending the call. I waited for a long time, but eventually got through and was able to place an order.

It sure was a boneheaded move to shut down the web site today.
I can't wait to see the flaming letters to the editors of CoinWorld and Numismatic News!

Thr zero option does not put you on hold it immediately says "unable to answer your call..." just like the other options. Dang, this is frustrating. I'm a collector, not an investor.

Been trying for awhile using option 1 with no luck. Used option 2 for existing orders and got through and placed on hole for about 10 min and when the lady anwsered she took my new order. Thanks for the tip.
