Troyster - It is not unusual for the Mint to ship orders separately. Good thing is they don't charge any extra shipping.

Crystalk64 - The Mint claims mine were shipped on 3/2, and I still haven't recieved mine yet either. :(

Now the nickels are backordered to 3/21/05. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Are they under estimatng the time needed to strike and ship the coins to collectors? I have never seen the mint change a backorder date on a single item so many times. They must be swamped with orders. Jim

Not sure swamped would be the word here! How about BURIED!!!

I have to laugh at this thread when I remember the "good old days". Your confirmation was your cancelled check, there were strict ordering limits, and you waited 6 months or sometime close to a year for delivery.

Yep... I remember those days too. At least you knew the truth about your order, the number of items were limited so they had some value, and dealers were prohibited from ordering hundreds of an item. Boy! I miss those days.

Well, it appears my buffalo nickels were shipped by "turtle" freight as they STILL have not arrived as of yet. Did anyone else order 1000 coin bags and how were they delivered? USPS or Fedex? Just curious as most mint delieveries are prompt at about 3 days.

Hey C64, did you go with the regular or expedited delivery? I chose regular and my tracking # still shows my bags in D.C. since 3/3.

Posted on the other thread earlier...my shipping status on the mint web page shows my rolls are still in Illinois, however the USPS tracking shows they are at my post office. Got there this afternoon. Got a parcel notice in my PO Box, so I know they're there! :)

I have yet to get an email confirmation of my online order of 4 rolls of nickels on March 1st, although I did call the mint today and they verified that they received my order. They told me they estimate my shipping date to be March 15 to 18th....I love this new design!!! :D

I ordered the nickel roll sets and some other stuff. My order status still says "There is a problem with your order" after four days. I don't know what the problem might be. They sure didn't have any problems charging my credit card...

Was the expiration date on your CC current as that will bring a very quick problem to the surface?

My CC expiration dates are all well into the future, 2 years or so hence. The mint website now reads that my Bison Nickel order is "In Stock and Reserved". Well, if they are in stock, why don't they ship them? I am not going to phone the mint, as the last time I did to inquire about the coin & medal set I ordered that was In Stock And Reserved", the lady that answered the phone told me the mint was making more sets. I knew she had no idea what she was saying. As emailed earlier by someone on our list, my 2005 Proof Sets are now also backordered. Jim

The Buffalo have arrived, and from a quick peek it looks like gems are going to be few and far between. Maybe the rolls will be better quality.

    Says:
"Product will be available for shipping 03/23/2005."

Im going ot call around the local banks thismorning and get the word. They dont open for another 15 min. I didnt know this was released 'til I read this thread right now. I hope I can get my hands on some.

Thanks Bobby. The new shipping date of 3/23 you mention means they have pushed the last shipping date I had back two more days. I guess two days is beter than being delayed a week each of the last two times I checked. I feel sorry for the mint employees who are working around the clock to produce a coin that was offered for sale on 2/28, and will now be shipped 3/23. I did notice that P.T. Barnum had his P&D Bison Nickel Rolls for sale on ShopAtHome for $16.99 per set. Nice of him to do all of us collectors a favor and sell them at such a low price. Jim

They have now removed the credit card hold that included the cost for the nickels. I guess they'll probably charge me for the other stuff and send it out now, and then charge and ship the nickels when they're back in stock. I wonder why it took them six days to figure that out...

Never know when it comes to the Mint. They ARE government you know!!! My bags finally arrived today and even though I am thrilled they have made if safely (just barely as box was busted open), the inner individual boxes were intact and NOW I must put them away as I NEVER OPEN BAGS!!! Still haven't seen the new nickels so I hope my rolls come soon!!!

Well....my sets arrived today. Must say I've got the best wife in the world. She was home and hopped online at noon to order them for me. And just to suprise me, she ordered 4 sets instead of 2!!!!.

I'm itching to open up couple the rolls, but I'm going to wait to see what I can get from the bank.

Best of luck to all of you waiting.

I called the mint today and the lady told me "When total for an order is over a certain amount, the order is put on hold until the customer calls in and confirms his address and phone number"
Why? That takes away the reason to order more than $300 worth of stuff to get free upgrade to priority shipping.
The mint never ceases to amaze me...
