I acquired this recently. My research indicates it is quite uncommon but I don't know much about Ancients. I welcome the opinions/comments of the experts on this forum

Seen them in online articles and such. They are neat coins.

    I just have a copper.

I have been looking for one of these for a while. They do come up for sale once in a while but I would not call them common at all. When they do appear they seem to disappear just as quickly.

    Very nice coin!

Very nice, it is Type #1 in Stuart Munro-Hay and Bent Juel-Jensen's "Aksumite Coinage" catalogue. This was issued during the pagan stage of Axum's history; the nation became one of the first to officially convert to Christianity in the early 300s AD. My only Axumite coin is this common anonymous bronze from the Christian period c. 350 AD:

Well I've been travelling a bit on business and YES you are right....spent quite a bit on some jewellery for the bitter half :))) (spelling intentional)....glad she doesn't read my posts;)

She liked it so I guess I can hope for a peaceful X'mas and New Year in Prague and Berlin. I've acquired some GB 2017 Benedetto Pistrucci 200 years anniversary sovereigns more recently so I had a few posts on the World coin forum:)

Got to take a breather now....low on cash:dead:

Well, can never go wrong with:
    1) jewelry for the wifie
    2) New Year's in Prague...

I have the same coin ex: Goldberg Auctions.

All Axumite AV coins are scarce. There are 20 examples known from King Endubis 270-300AD. Here is mine...
