    Nice old gold coin!

    I read The Three Musketeers recently and saw that pistoles were mentioned a lot in the book and I believe that a pistole was worth two gold Ecus.

    Answering my own question, I see that CNG refers to gold world coins as AV. However, I would like to say that I really appreciate that CoinTalk does not force the World and Ancient communities into the same forum as most other numismatic sites do.

    Yes/ AV=GOLD AR=SILVER AE=BASE METALS....almost forgot EL=ELECTRUM natural alloy of gold/silver
