Authentic VS. Counterfeit 1914 D Lincoln

    Aside from possible differences in photography, what do you notice that makes you say it is not from the same die?

    How about just the reverse?

    The mint mark is in a different position and "L" is further from the rim. However, the reverse could easily be the same.

    Look at the 1917d that just sold on eBay for 212.50. Is that real or fake?

    I have mapped what appears to be 6 different mintmark locations for the 1914-D Lincoln. Could be more as suggested in this thread which I have not run across.

    The real 1914-D provided in the OP's write-up is OBV #4.

    OH Wow - Did I just respond to a thread that is almost 10 years old? Sorry - I did the work - so I am going to respond anyway.

    A bit of a necro post.. Again I have been posting alot about 14D Penny's.
    Not thinking of buying this but the the wooden texture got me thinking how counter fits are cast and give the grainy look.
    I am more interested in the G above in the In God We Trust. It seems to be a fully rounded G like in the pics of the fake. It has a little spot but might be a smear??

    Now that I see it again, i'm not to sure? It looks legit.
