Well - a coin that is 638 yrs old is plenty old enough to call it ancient for me ;)

The Lion d'or issued by the Count Louis De Male - 1368. I have lusted after that very coin for 3 yrs now.

Where's the best place to get coins from the time of the Arthurian legend time? (5th, 6th century AD?)

    CoinKid,
Those are incredibly hard centuries to find coins from and for sure you won't find any from Britain at the time unless you own a bank. From 393 AD to 693 AD,I own only about 12 coins.Damn Dark Ages you know.
If you're interested in coins from the medieval days of knights and castles, start with coins from the crusades.I have lots and they weren't too expensive..less than $50-75 each. Here are a few....see the armor and the castles..cool stuff!!
