If I weren't so descarado (shameless), I'd probably be offended. LOL

I'm really enjoying all these Augustus coins. There is so much variety and history in them. I especially like the denarius with just a head on the obverse with no legend at all. They are very attractive to me.

Yours appears to be a modern cast fake.

    Why would you think that?

    red_spork Triumvir monetalis

Soft, soapy details and small, round holes(air bubbles in the molten metal) characteristic of the casting process. The original coin would have been made by die striking as opposed to casting.

This is also a modern fake. It (labeled Augustus) is a Tiberius Caesar Tribute Penny replica which is one of the most frequently copied ancient coins. Some are not sold as genuine but as souvenirs to Christians visiting religious sites or even bookstores. I have seen such items glued to an explanatory card but people tear them off and put them in with their coin collection of change from their travels. The problem is that grandpa may have known what it was but his heirs have no idea and think it is a valuable item. The first one (labeled caesar) was Caesar Augustus who is best known for being the emperor at the time of the birth of Christ. You should never buy either coin from a seller who is not both trustworthy and expert in coins of the type.

I think "I get enough sass from my Portuguese wife" is a great line! Kinda hip, rappy, and poetic in a way.

This would be the first line "I been hearin' 'bout my Spanish all my life". @stevex6
