This thread continues to enlighten. Thanks KurtS as I was hoping someone would "normalize" the saturation on that photo. I have to say that the blue to violet coloring still does not look like nature's work to me.

Maybe. Its about Money. PCGS, NGC make more money if they grade the coin higher.

Isn't that just the edge of the silicone gasket? It doesn't really look like a crop boundary to me. Besides, the slab's chroma looks just as stretched to me. @KurtS's renormalized photo looks pretty believable.

No, it is clearly a circular crop and saturation boost. There is no "gasket" on the newer pronged holders -- and this coin is in a 3 prong PCGS holder. Look at the other coins in his inventory. The same circular crop effect can be seen on his coins in NGC holders...

Here's a crop from his 1885O Morgan pics in a pronged NGC holder.

I have taken thousands of images in my life, and I have seen this little "trick" quite often on eBay. He's clearly circular cropping and adjusting the saturation in that area only. The rest of the slab is also off on the color, but it's a problem with his white balance.

OP's coin has way too many contact marks on the devices for a 65. There were also some fine examples of over graded coins in NGC holders as well.

Doc , I'm with you as is the colors look fake to me or super juiced . As to a 65 , no way . It's a 63 or maybe a low 64 . I guess the couple 65 Morgans I own must be 68s , yeah right . ;)
