Today I forked over the $100 early bird, which was supposed to begin at 11am. However, since I was there early, I thought I'd ask security at the door and play dumb. They had no clue when the early bird started, so after a few seconds of looking confused they just let me in! At 10am! So I was stoked to get in an extra hour.

Many dealers were already set up and they were all welcoming to me. I found plenty of low to mid grade coins like the eBayers love, but there were also TONS of high end coins, including a few dozen of the new CA gold hoard at Kagin's booth.

When 1pm rolled around, I expected a big crowd to come in, but... (crickets). Today was poorly attended. A few dealers seemed hopeful that Friday would be better, when the weather warmed up (it was 25° this morning!)

I spent 5k today! Shopped for 8 straight hours. No bathroom breaks, no food. I couldn't stop myself. I was like an addict going on a bender, haha! Among my buys, I cherry picked an 1864 small motto 2 cent for $10, an 1877-S doubled die reverse trade dollar for $210, a VERY nice 1878-s doubled die reverse trade dollar for $220, and an XF detail 2 cent with reverse clashed with Indian head cent for $18. My other big buys were a 1799 VG-Fine draped bust dollar for $1000, 1876 NGC AU50 20 cent piece (old holder, rainbow toning) for $475, &1834 NGC MS61 capped bust half with tremendous flash for $1000. Here's a pic.
