Athens, Attica - Athena Owl Tetradrachm - Help me clean her face.

    I haven't really approached cleaning silver coins that are of substantial value. I do not have the coin in hand as of yet. So, I'm unsure as to whether it is grime, ink, or some other sort of stain. Any suggestions on cleaning?

    fine... i'll put it in CLR for a day and use 300 grit sandpaper. That should do the trick.

    Maybe its toning? In which case, I'd leave it. I'd try water before anything else if I were to do anything.
