I was surprised to find he had won that coin. He started the bidding at $1.00 less than he paid for it. At first I offered to buy it outright at $1.00 more than he paid for it. He refused saying that because he knew these coins and was such a good judge of value, he was sure the coin would go for at least $4.00 more than he paid and maybe more.I placed the opening amount as a bid and waited.Long story short, the coin never advanced and I got it for less than I had offered him, less than he paid, and even less than my original first bid on the coin when he outbid me.I felt so bad about how much he lost on the deal, that I almost sent him some extra money.Almost.[/QUOTE]
