Back in early May I won an Ebay auction for an 1886 T2 IHC. I paid for the coin but a few days later the sale was cancelled and I got a refund. I messaged the seller for a reason and was told that his kids were playing with it and he couldn't find it. I see that the seller has relisted the coin with a stating bid more than $100 than what I won it for. I guess he didn't like the winning bid. I guess it was his coin to sell so he didn't have to accept the winning bid. But giving me a BS story for the reason is just .... BS.

    Here's the new listing.

Once a liar.... Always a liar.... This seller wasn't worth dealing with.

Paddy54 Hey brother can you spare a half dime?

The games people play...I had a dealer a couple of months back. That had lousy images...
What was funny there were 2 coins he was trying to unload with no returns. However he tookmreturns on his other items. I purchased 1and it was the pits...so I just did a item not as described case on ebay.
He starts a action saying I had stolen the coin... which wasn't true. It was returned,as well ebay refunded me. Of course I gave him negative feed back...at which he tried to make me look bad by his reply to feed back. So at the end I did get a refund he got a negative plus my reply to his slanderous statement ,and my two replies stood.

I thought you were talking about a raw coin and I immediately pictured an expensive coin getting all scratched up :banghead:

Sorry that happened to you though, uncool of sellers to do that, especially if you already paid for it.

That sucks. He must have realized he could get more for it, so tried to make up excuses so he didn't have to honor the sale. That would one seller I'd keep away from, for sure.

Sorry that happened but there are all kinds of people in this world. Is it worth the trouble to report this? Writing a negative review can be removed.

True, but it is very hard to get negative reviews removed. eBay customer service could use improvements.

Since he cancelled and refunded my payment I couldn't write a specific review on this item. He's probably hoping that after two months I'd either not be searching routinely for this specific date IHC or I'd forget. Like I said earlier, it's his coin and reputation. If I was the seller I would have honored the winning bid, even if it wasn't what I wanted. His mistake was not setting an acceptable starting bid in the first place. Given the starting bid this time, I doubt if he'll get any bids.

Would ebay do anything if you proved to them that you already bought the same exact coin and the seller claimed that they "lost" it? I know it's not worth it, but you had a contract with that seller and they violated it.

It is actually possible it was lost and found later on.

I asked him if someone didn’t win this coin a month or so ago.
We’ll see what he says if he responds.

During my correspondence with the seller I indicated that if he found it I would still be interested in buying it.

He might not of remembered. Plus more importantly it would put his account in jeopardy if he reached out to you for a private sale. Only he really knows, but its a weird move to wait that long to resell it on the same venue like that if he just didnt like the price especially after having to eat the fees on the first sale.

They only have 81 feedbacks as a seller and 36 items for sale. Doesn't seem difficult to keep track of. They would absolutely know that they listed and sold the item previously. Would you relist it right away after pulling something like that? There's no way to know if they've done this before.

Make an offer on it-the same price it sold to you before. See if he pulls the listing.

    Vertigo Did someone say bust?

I wouldn't even deal with the guy again. That's really the best course of action with someone who pulls things like this.
