I've played Destiny on XboxOne for a couple of years now - but ready for something else.. this may fit the bill. I don't usually buy until I read the post release reviews and after the initial price drops happen... usually things get patched early on as well.
Couldn't play Destiny. A friend gave me a copy to play with him and I hated every minute of it. I've played every AC game from the start, for better or worse. There have been some real stinkers, but Origins was a breath of fresh air. I'm hoping that Odyssey continues that.
I like the first person shooter style games mostly.. and the gun play in Destiny is the best around - but yes the game has many, many flaws and it's actually getting worse. Looking forward to the reviews on this one.
I play Battlefield 1 for the past year and a half, and looking forward to BFV in Fall. Also looking forward to RDR2. I'm on PS4. I actually might get this AC game too. When there was still speculation as to what the next BF game was, I was kind of hoping it'd be a Roman scenario, fighting as a legionaire under a General turned Emperor, from Egypt to Germania, to Britannia, to Gaul, etc, etc, etc.
I play both PS4 and Xbox One. I played a bit of BF1 on my friend's console but couldn't get into it. I guess I just suck at MP games haha. RDR2 is going to be great, no doubt. Your thought on the AC game would be awesome. Unfortunately, I think they still have to stick to the Assassin DNA theme that they started with. Prolly wouldn't want such a prominent figure as the main character.
I will be radical and say I like star wars bf2! I started after the microtransaction debacle was nerfed out of the game. I think a Roman themed AC must be next on the agenda, or how about campaigns of Alexander the Great? John
I bought SW BF1 on sale and played maybe a total of an hour. What absolute garbage compared to the originals...and that isn't me just being nostalgic. I decided that EA will no longer get any of my money for SW titles. I'm a huuuuuge Star Wars fan so that is big for me haha. I know they have been flirting with a Japenese themed AC but who knows. They have multiple teams working on several different titles all at the same time. It would be really cool though, to go up against some war elephants. Though there were some fights against war elephants in Origins.
The idea of a Japanese theme sounds neat, especially if they are able to keep up the current level of immersion. I remember playing the good SWBFII on my cousin’s Xbox. He gave it to me, but I can’t play it unfortunately. I love my PS4 though.
I played Origins, the previous game in the series that was set in early-Roman Egypt. I thought it was immersive and beautifully done, if historically imperfect. Being able to walk through a big-budget 3-D model of the city of Alexandria for $50 is pretty awesome, IMO. I'm looking forward to the Greek version. We will have to give them a pass on any numismatic game design fouls... at the very least they are bringing this period of history back into popular imagination. It's more accurate than Kid Icarus for NES, at any rate.
Oh, and I figured I might add what I like to play. I am a big Sonic fan, which is what made me want a PS4 in the first place. I like some Final Fantasies and some other Squaresoft games. Mega Man is pretty good too. I generally tend towards indie titles otherwise. Enter the Gungeon is one of my favorites. I’ve never been much good at FPSs.
AC is pretty much the reason I became interested in ancient history. I loved playing Brotherhood and walking through the old ruins of Rome. The series got kind of boring though and I haven't played any since Revelations. I think I'll grab this one though.. hopefully it's as good as it looks so far. As for other games.. I'm mostly playing csgo. The only game I've bought for the ps4 in the past 2 years is Fallout 4 and I only played for about 5 hours. I miss gaming..
Isn't it strange to think that 40 or 50 years from now, nursing homes will be jam packed with old people playing video games and staring at their phones?
I played Origins (a lot). I was asked to Beta test Odyssey but simpy couldn't spare the time. I am looking forward to it.
Tetris has been the extent of my gaming but this may change my mind!! I spent an hour watching "making of" and walkthrough videos on YouTube. They have absolutely done their homework and it is a visual feast to behold.
Old? I played the 25 cent video games. Actually I owed the video game store...Old? Astroids.....Pong....
My parents had a Commodore Pet and we would play a text based football game that used an audio cassette tape for memory. I played Joust on an Atari system.
