Opium and bismuth is a great way to try and ameliorate the effects of cholera (I'm a former pharmacist.) Just won't cure it. And it turns you into an opium addict..................but it does create a faithful customer. Love the bottle and the tie to a 19th century "pharmaceutical" pioneer.
Very nice collection. I've been to many militaria shows but have not seen military medals such as yours. I going to be more observant at the shows.
James, I love the radio toolset! That is a real window on how things used to be in terms of crafts and technical work. I love old tools as well but my interests are accoustic and archtop guitar building. John
Top photo is one of my Faraday therapy boxes. The abalone inlay on the supporting chest is some of the best I've ever seen. Several different different shades of abalone are used.
Thank John. I tried to find one for many years without success -- they are so hard to come by -- and very pricey in the vintage tool market. Then lo, and behold, I located two within a few months of each other -- and reasonably priced to boot! Your old tools occupy a eclectic and desirable niche also.
I did a search on eBAY and learned a 212D sold for $1,450.00 + s/h. I paid $60.00 for my tube at a local HamFest. http://www.ebay.com/itm/western-electric-212-D-tube-/152204579102
