This came in with a bunch of other random coins - can someone point me in the right direction? I have paged through the Indian section of 19th century Krause and also Afghanistan but not spotted a match yet. Measures about 16.4mm across. Even a translation of some of the words would help!
You got the right region, but pretty certain it's well before the 19th century. Maybe a gani denomination? Wish I could help more Edit: Found something similar under Delhi sultanate. 14th century https://en.numista.com/catalogue/delhi_sultanate-2.html
Thanks very much for that! I think my one is the last one on the previous page: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces38432.html It is extraordinary how many of these really old Asian coins keep turning up in auctions around here - this is the third for me this year. I can't believe anyone is faking them as I am picking them up unidentified for very little money. Now all I need to do is find a collector for them!
Can't recall encountering any fakes of these. They are are common in the US as well, which is pretty odd for 700 year old coins from India.
