tough subject - investing vs collecting. i collect, and love collecting ASE's in both unc and proof. a truly beautiful classic US coin design. I would never consider investing in coins. just my 2 cents worth
Quite right Dagg. Investing vs. collecting. Still, nothing wrong with the young fellow buying a few of these pieces. Especially if, down the road, he's gonna cash 'em in for something truly collectable...
As long as you don't buy a bunch of high grade graded examples and also keep in mind that they are designed to be bullion coins... you'll be fine.
Anymore bullion advice? I think junk silver could be picked up for melt and not for big premiums like $3.00 over melt.
Excellent. I did the same thing many years ago. Get an early start, squirrel that money and those PMs away and you will be set well in the future.
I prefer ASEs and believe they may one day be discontinued and take on a potential numismatic (as well as intrinsic bullion) value.
Just have to shop around to get the best price or get in good with your dealer for a better than most others may get. You might get a special price from exclusive dealing with one local dealer. Best thing to do is SAVE UP and buy in quantity. Try a money saving exercise (no matter what the price of silver looks to be doing in the markets) and once you have enough money to save up to buy a tube (20 bullion coins) then look for the best price and make your investment.
either, but the longer you wait the better your return will be. though if you try to buy and flip immediately you will likely take a hit.
Filling an album with ASE bullion can be fun and probably a good investment, just don't forget to continue to add to a savings account.
