As or Dupondius?

    So are the "brassy" colored coin sof Augustus (DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER, radiate head right / S-C either side of large altar with closed doors, PROVIDENT below, ) Ases or Dupondii? I've seen both used, but more seem to de described as Ases; I also refer to them as an As.

    I don't see any picture (purposely ?)
    The one you refer to, Randy, although Augustus is wearing a radiate crown, is an As. The radiate crown isn't here intended to signify "double" but "consecration"

    Its not he raditate that confuses me, but the metal. Here one of mine, crumby pic/coin though :D
