The very interesting Artificial Toning discussion on the Home page of CT provokes me to post this thread... ... before my meds kick in. Being a bottom-feeder World rag collector, I depend very much on obvious signs of ...circulation. If I'm going to spend three whole Yankee dollars on a note from Botswana, I don't want something that's been sitting in a printer's shop in Pretoria or London. "Do yo want that with camel dung?" Yes, please! However, there are modern counterfeits that may have 'artificial' wear (to be expected in an extremely rare note) ... [I did search artificial and counterfeit in CT 'paper money' but couldn't find the example I'd seen.] Wait, let the meds take effect! No way someone's going to deliberately "circulate" a common note. Right?
