Interesting, also had to do a bit of digging to see whether Epoch Times is a front for anyone or a legit newspaper. Questionable, Falun Gong supported, but definitely not a bullion house propaganda page.

The Chinese, Indian, and Asian middle classes will buy gold, but I tend to ignore central banks. Too many other priorities than worrying about a metal.

My Chinese friend brings me copies of the Epoch Times Southern Ca. edition every week from San Diego where it is free on certain newstands. It is published in 35 countries and in 21 languages, winner of 2012 Sigma Delta Chi award for excellence in journalism ( article on Harvesting Human Organs in China). Seems quite fair in its general reporting.

The real question is how trustworthy are the figures. Are the figures reasonably accurate or were created by some "creative accounting".

A while back, some economists were questioning the accuracy of the growth of the Chinese GDP as they were not matching up against the demand of raw materials, electricity consumption, exports etc. A lot of figures seem to be inflated and I will not be surprised if this is the case.

It's a very weird little newspaper, free during the week, priced on weekend, anti-Chinese-commie. Most of their articles tend to be shallow, but I just took a chance that it might be of interest.
