This maybe true for this collector but you need to substantiate your cost, replacement or current value, for insurance purposes. If you carry it.
If I collected one ounce golds from the Mint, I would carry insurance. Course too, I wouldn't keep it in the house either. I'd pay the expense for a safe deposit box. But since I don't, the cost is not justified to me. My collection is just that to me, a collection.
The insurance is mostly for the safety deposit box. Saftey deposit boxes are not covered by FDIC Insurance. Nor is any of the contents covered by the bank.
This I know. My family's silver service set, that I mentioned in another thread, is in a safe deposit box and insured.
I have every coin in this series but the halves, those were next but I as too late. I prefer them in the original packaging. I had a hunch they might be popular, but I had no idea it'd be like this. If I can find the halves for a decent price I'll have to pick me up some. Sadly the gold versions are out of my price range. One can dream lol
Mine was almost an overnight shipment. I ordered it Thursday night, received the email acknowledgement Friday am and the coin Saturday early pm. I also like their bubble mailers. There is no way into them except with scissors or a knife. I don't think you can even open it with a letter opener. Very theft proof.
There is an article in Coin Update Collecting News about the inrcease of interest in this commemorative. Also a link to an eBay auction for ten pieces. They are currently going at $56 each with more than a day to go.

That's an okay deal, a real bargain compared to the uncirculated examples that are virtually non-existant for an affordable price. I just sold my MS-69 for $90 last week.
A lot that better than my expectations that for sure. I ended up throwing it up on feebay with a buy it now w/best offer for 109. Just threw my line out there to see if I can reel in something halfway decent and Lo and behold, got me a nice one!
