We are a rare breed Leadfoot. Right handed but left eye dominant.

I learned that when getting into firearms.

You are what is called "cross dominant". It is relatively uncommon (I believe only 5% have it), but something like 50% of baseball players are cross dominant - when batting right, your left eye faces the pitcher.

I try real hard to shoot a jump hook with my left hand in basketball :kewl:, but I'm right dominant in all things!

You just in a sentance have explained it better than every eye doctor I have ever seen in my life.

NOW it makes perfect sense to me, and THANKS. Seriously.

Am I too old to try out for the Yankees?

I heard that if you were opposite handed than you are footed (eg. Right handed, L footed) that you were a twin and your sibling died early on and you got some of their genes. Not sure if that is true or not, but heard it from a couple of nurses at the hospital.
Write right (used to be equal at both until the nuns made me stick to R), Left eye loupin n shootin, bat either way, skate goofy footed. All kinds of messed up.

Wow! I'm in the same category as you guys. I do everything right handed except louping a coin. I use my left eye. I never really thought about it until now.

My oldest son is a lefty as is my youngest brother. They are only 4 years apart in age, if that means anything. 38 and 42. They kinda grew up together. Makes me wonder if the milkman was a lefty.lol...........John

    I am not sure which eye you use for a loupe is relevant to which eye is dominant. Although it may well be, I have never seen it sited as a method of determining which eye is dominant. Here is one method I have heard of for determining the dominant eye;

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

    I didn't know that.

I guess I really don't have a good excuse for batting below .200 in little league then. :headbang: Good fielder, but could never hit worth a darn.

That's how I figured it out too.

I shoot handguns with my right (but with my head cocked to the right to let my left eye aim), and rifles with my left.

Are you basing this on the hand that people handle coins with when they come in the shop Matt?

I am most certainly right handed, but now that you mention it, I prefer to handle my coins with my left hand. Interesting!

Left-handed. And yes, we are taking over. Right handers have screwed things up long enough....:D;)

I'm right handed, eat with my left, loupe coins with my left eye and aim guns with my left eye. So that makes me cross dominant?

    I think that figure is too high. I've seen 85 - 90%.

I'm right handed, right eye dominant, but read with my left eye. (I typically close my right eye while reading.)

I was ambidextrous(could write with both hands) until I was about 7 and smashed my left elbow whilst running to church. After I never felt comfortable using my left hand to write, and oh, I don't run to church anymore - I run away from it:D

I am the same!:goofer: When I look through a book I use my lefty and when I write I use my righty, but I can use either hand for anything. I guess you would call me almost ambidextrous.

    which eye?

Using the Left hand to hold the object (coin) would allow fine manipulation with the Dominate Right hand to control the loupe while looking through your dominate eye of choice before kicking the looser object (coin) across the room with your dominate foot.

At least that's the way it works for me.:kewl:

This has nothing to do with the Matt. Just my luck with current acquisitions. :headbang:
