Are you going to the FUN SHOW in January?

    OK, I’ve decided to try and go. Now trying to get a travel posse to go with. My buddy Jason from NC is on board. I’m trying to get @Randy Abercrombie to go.

    Any of y’all who are traveling south on I-95 and are too tired to run all the way down into Florida, consider a stopover here, the night before. (Brunswick & the Golden Isles of Georgia.) We’re less than an hour N of the FL border.

    With proper advance notice, I should be able to get you a special “friend & family” discounted rate at my workplace: The Inn by Sea Island, on Saint Simons Island, GA. Rates are lower in January anyway.

    I’d welcome any pre-FUN visitors.

    Shoot dang, wish the hell I was going if only to meet Lord M and Randy. Alas, my sojourn south, (if it occurs at all) won't be till February.

    I wish I had known you back for the 20 times or so times when the missus and I drove to our place in the FL Keys. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be heading that way anytime soon. Flying lost its appeal long ago and I no longer have the ambition for long road trips. At various times we stayed in Brunswick, Savannah, Fernandina Beach, and Jacksonville.

    Even down here in far S GA (and likely into N FL as well), we’ve had nighttime temps in the low 30s the past couple of nights. We brought the electric space heaters out of mothballs because our furnace isn’t ready to be fired up for the first time yet. Every time we do that for the first time each winter, it sets off the smoke alarms. We almost certainly need a duct cleanout.

    By day, it’s still mild (if cool), and gorgeous.

    The smell is from dust that settles on the burner over the course of the year. That's what needs to be cleaned. Duct cleaning is overrated. Most dust is in the return ducts and is intercepted by your furnace filter.

    Regarding FUN, I'll be there Thursday through mid-day Saturday. Table 806 with photo gear set up and ready to go.

    100% correct on the dust. That's the way it works. It's not really tough to learn how to clean up the chamber. Most of the folks that clean ducts in my area just stir up more dust that gets blown into the house.

    Only 28 days to go. I'll see you there @messydesk I love your new calendar. Well done. Pretty coins. My wife even loves it and she thinks that all of us coin guys are sick.
    I'll be bring you a box of coins to image. I'll try to get it to you early on Thursday.

    It's going to be a great show.

    Anybody have any hotel recommendations near the convention center?

    @ToughCOINS - I was gonna ask you. You can be sure @Randy Abercrombie and I will come visit you at your table. Maybe make your booth our HQ, if we wouldn’t be in the way, and if I don’t hang out at the table of my ancient coin pals like I did at 2023 FUN.

    I'll be there on Thu afternoon and Fri morning. Assuming the winter storm doesn't throw a wrench in the plan... it's scheduled to arrive here a few hours before 6 AM flight on Thu.

    Well scratch my previous post. Airline just canceled my flight. The winter storm will be right over us tomorrow so everything will be locked down. I just called Hilton and they were kind enough to refund my reservation. This is frustrating, as I had arranged to personally pick up coins I won at a European auction, and now we'll have to figure out some other way to get them to me. Sigh.

    Hotels? I’m not sure where there’s vacancy, so I recommend you call around. I will say I do not recommend the Orlando Inn, which is where I’m anchored this week. Not my idea, but it is what it is.

    By all means, please stop by. I’m on a corner table with 3 dealers and a spouse, so space behind the tables is limited, but I’ll happily try to make what room I can beneath the back table for bulky / weighty items that would burden you on the bourse.
