    Yes.

President for the last 24 years now.

That and $1.99 will get you a cup of coffee at any 711.

During nominations last week, I was again the only nominee for president.

I told them, "OK, let's try this. Pick somebody you can't stand. Some edited that drives you nuts with their pompous know-it-all attitude that you want to get back at and nominate THEM".

Some wag in the back covered his mouth and said .......

    "We already did that."

Well, once it's known what's happening at the meetings, one stands a good chance of getting robbed on the way out. There's that.

Especially when the location and times are advertised on their website. I have a friend in another state who's actively involved in a coin club. Members bring in coins and have auctions all the time. The President of the club apparently schedules a police cruiser to be out in front of their meeting place on the second Tue of each month. edited

I belong to the only coin club in New Mexico, a 50 mile drive from my rural home. The club has been goin since 1953, and they welcomes new members and do all the right things. We are having our semi-annual coin show this weekend and 50 dealers with 100 tables participated, not bad for a state with only 2 million people in the whole state.

The club meets the last Monday of the month except December when we have our Christmas, oops Holiday, party. The meeting has a Power Point presentation at each meeting and an auction at the end. I'm on the Board of Directors and am also the webmaster. New Mexico has concealed carry and quite a few members carry at meetings so in the 53 years the club has been in existence, we've never had a problem with the "bad guys."

As a side note, I picked up a coin I've been actively looking for, the only bi-metallic (gold and platinum), coin the U.S. Mint has ever made- the 2000-W Congressional Library $10 Pr70 Ultra Cameo. I am a happy :joyful: person. I spent more than I should have, but most dealers were selling at Bid- so I got a few good buys.

Have to go back today to load up our tables in my trailer, may go back a little earlier and see if there are any Dealers selling at a discount at the end of the show. Nothing like holding a coin or slab in your hand before buying it.

    Bellaire Coin Club, Texas.

Meet 1st & 3rd Monday of each month. Door prize, auction, 2 - 3 coin shows (well attended) a year, Christmas/end of the year party.

The 3rd Monday we have a numismatic presentation. Extremely interesting and educational.

Very friendly, helpful group of numismatists.

Meet in the city library, across from the police station, next to the fire department. Very safe!

I have never joined a club. I wanted to but saw it as a security risk.

Not a coin club member; my "clubs" are sites like this one. But it is fun to meet forum members at coin shows for example. Also, when I go to the World Money Fair, we usually have some kind of get-together on one evening. I mean, I don't wear/have a t-shirt like this ... :D

Different strokes for different folks. I find it informative and educational to go to a coin club meeting. I especially enjoy the presentations, you're never to old to learn something new.

I've learned a lot for this and other forums, but I find that face to face has a more dynamic and informative trading of information.

Very much this. Personally, I get very_darn_little face to face interaction with other people like me in the numismatic sense. Show interactions don't really give you the chance to just idly sit around and chew the fat like that, and few of our conversations here are long enough to completely "tear apart" a given coin or topic.

Coin or stamp clubs DO NOT have to be a thing of the past. The Lower Cape Fear Coin Club 'may' have found ways to increase membership and re-generate interest in numismatics. Look at our website www.LCFCC.org and read our recent newsletters for tips on how to grow your club.

Sadly no I am not! I would love to be a part and have had several invites. The club meets on Monday night at the Annapolis Library and between my work schedule it makes it impossible to be a member in good standings when you're just not up to fight the traffic and tie up loose ends of business on the first day of my work week.

I would be there any other night ,however most members live closer to Annapolis and are now retired..that makes a big difference in your schedules.

Yes, a very small one, at meetings 5-12 people usually, depending on all other events, as most have family members that take them away during the kids events in the community. Its for the talk and good natured fun. Kids always win something in the auction, and my family brings the cookies ( Costco's best!). The auction goods usually are from a coin store in San Diego area, who gives us a great discount, so very little is returned. A new person might feel odd the first few time in any club, but unless you are experienced, there is always something interesting for your time. We always a family and friends communal December pot-luck and little of the talk is coins as there are just too many other things. Just don't forget the cookies.

Ya know in my entire life I have never belonged to an actual go to meetings in person coin club. But somehow it always seemed that the people always found me anyway and we'd end up sitting down and talking about coins sometimes for hours on end. Same thing always happened at coin shows. I'd go outside to have a smoke and first thing ya know I'd have a crowd around me, often including people I'd never even heard of before let alone knew them. And we'd end up sitting there for the next 3 hours just talking about coins - while the coin show went on inside - and nobody cared. It never ceased to amaze me ! And there are numerous members of this forum who can testify to that.

Now I've belonged to internet coin clubs, run several different coin forums, for almost 20 years. But belonged to an old fashioned coin club, not once. The thought never even crossed my mind.
