Are woodgrain cents less desirable?

    I'd say you can get it graded if you'd like to. I see no harm besides spending the money to do it really. either way I'd think you'd want to know how it grades out for future reference even if you decide to keep it. I'd think it gets a star or plus on it for eye appeal regardless of how the grade turns out though.

    Valuewise the value likely isn't there to make the cost of grading worth it, but you might want to get it encapsulated just on sentimental reasons alone and keep it. everyone has their reasons.

    and to add to this, who knows, if it straight grades and gets a star and you send to to CAC maybe it gets a green bean sticker also, in which case maybe it's worth it overall to have done it when the time comes to sell one day. it's pretty for a cent that's 111 years old.

    I don't particularly care for woodgrain coins. But I own this one.
