I think we could keep an entire subforum busy with "what were they thinking" threads here, all arguing over grades on slabs.

The only surefire way to avoid an argument over a grade is to shoot the other fellow.

You've never argued with yourself over whether a grade's correct?

Maybe he should shoot himself just to be on the safe side.

That stops all the stupid people from arguing with you.

But it also lets them all get in the last word, so don't do that.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

But that’s no guarantee there won’t be lead flying.

I think people make too much of PCGS, NGC, and to a lesser extent, ANACS.
I recently started fighting back by buying only NAC.

    Here is my latest purchase:

    Capture.JPG

I made an offer of $30.00 and it was accepted.
This is fully $300.00 less than I paid for an 1925 MS66 in a PCGS (CAC)holder - which didn't come with its own pouch. (1)

Some are willing to pay 10X more for a pretty blue holder.

    Whatever.

    NOTES
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1: PCGS is a den of lazy thieves. Seriously, get your pOOp together.

I actually bought this coin to illustrate to friends and relatives the difference between properly and improperly graded coins. I'll be surprised if it is uncirculated.

@John Johnson In the US, a lot of collectors want slabbed coins. Yes there are some, a small minority that don't want slabbed.

However I'm finding in Europe, a lot do not like slabbed coins. If you go on instagram and follow some european collectors, many will buy a slabbed coin and crack it out. THere was even recently a rare coin in a NGC slab worth a few hundred thousand dollars that was cracked immediately from the slab after auction.

In Asia, there are lots of raw coin collectors but for example, the Chinese coin market, they love slabbed coins.

I kept hearing a loud sound while in the world section at the ANA. One of the dealers had a HUGE set of pincher things and was merrily slab cracking away. (Shulmans)
