Are these KKK items real? I do not own these items, someone emailed me the pictures because he looked at the tokens on my website and thought I was an expert, which I am not. The person bought them at a "flea market", and would not state how much he paid for them. There are five tokens: Any opinions?
Umm how did you get these and no offence but why do you keep them. Personally I think they should be destroyed! But yes they are real I've seen them myself in person (Not these ones) and they do appear to have all of the trademarks of a real token
I hate posting pages that promote hate stuff but, for educational purposes..... there is mention that these items have been restruck (recently). The cross for example was the "highest honor" and was struck in sterling silver. Even though the one in the OP's pics states sterling, it would be interesting to see if it actually was. If it is, I stand corrected. But, in my experience with dealing with militaria and seeing tons of fake nazi stuff out there, I would be highly doubtful as to the authenticity of these items. I would test for sterling before I laid out any cash. http://www.exonumia.com/fakes.htm http://us2.ixquick-proxy.com/do/sp/...SSOOMKT&oiu=http://www.kkklan.com/coins.3.gif http://us2.ixquick-proxy.com/do/sp/...ONNN&oiu=http://www.kkklan.com/annex4FF17.gif
Although i don;t agree with the "politics" of the clan and think they are all horrible people I am still a student of history and unfortunate as it is the klan is a part of our history and i must say that these give an interesting insight into their world.
They shouldn't be destroyed for one reason , like all hate propaganda paraphernalia , they should be around in the right places such as Holocaust Museums , so we don't forget and don't let it happen again . All modern copies of non historical value should be destroyed . rzage
Thank you all for your replies. I thought that they looked fake to me, poorly cast copies. The person who sent the pictures to me wanted my opinion, he did not offer to sell them to me. (I would not be interested)
It's not like owning them makes you a Klansman, or having some old Nazi coin makes you a Nazi. It's just history, people shouldn't be so weirded out by it. Now if it was someone recruiting for the Klan or some NeoNazi group, I'd be concerned.
the last example at the bottom left is nathanial forest, confederate civl war general. it is quite rare, and yes, from a disturbing part of our nations history
