    Hello,
My wife and I just recently started coin roll hunting looking for errors in pennies.
During our hunt we have found some coins that have stuck out to us!
I'm curious if we have found anything interesting or special.
Bellow are a few of the pennies we have found!

1968 D, Look at the TES in STATES and AMERICA.
Would this be considered a Doubled Die?

    1982 Double Edge?

    1988 D, D Double Stamped?

Let me know what you think?

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hello,

The 68D is called "Machine Doubling"
The 88D is a plating bubble.

Oh very cool! Is this something that is common or for these dates? Or is it a rarity?

I also forgot to post this one!

2000, would this be considered a 2000 wide AM?

Not rare at all. Just junk worth 1c. The zinc core in the 88 is rotting.
That 2000 is a WAM. Congrats :) They are the most common of the WAMs but they are still fun to find :)

FYI - The correct term is Doubled not Double
I want to share this webpage with you - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubled_die

quote - "Note that the proper terminology for this occurrence includes the letter 'd' at the end of the first word, hence "doubled die". The term "double die" without the first word ending in 'd' is not proper numismatic terminology." closed quote

You need to show the entire Obverse and Reverse.. it might be a common Misaligned Die Strike with a Double Rim.. for this error you can use the word Double ;)

Ahhh I think I am finally starting to understand and see the difference between Doubled Die and Michine Doubling!

Machine is flat and shelf-like. Usually looks like steps :)
My avatar is a legit 1972 DDO 001 that I found roll hunting. You can see how the doubling is not flat or shelf-like.

I "believe" (an am a bit embarrassed that I don't know for sure...) but that 001 is the first of the variety found. If more varieties for the year are found then they are labeled 002, 003, etc...There are different ways of labeling them though based on different systems. There are lots of different doubled dies for 1972 in case you didn't know.
