I found this post and I have 3 1965 quarters. So I read what everyone said, all of them are 2 tone on the side, however they all weigh different!
That's because there is a + or - variance for coins. Most coins weigh exactly the same but there could be a difference. 1965 Quarters are Clad with a Copper core!
There were some quarters that were printed on the same as 1964 on accident. About 53 went into circulation I believe
I understand but if you see a copper core it's not silver. Clad layer is nickel. Coins are struck not printed. Paper currency is printed.
The 1965 Quarter coin has 0 silver content. The only coins minted after 1964 to contain silver are the Kennedy Half Dollars. The 1965 quarters are 75% copper, and 25% nickel. Also.. no proof coins were issued for this year. http://cointrackers.com/coins/496/1965-washington-quarter/
I have a 1966 ddo quarter, two toned but definitely ddo , it has a solid maybe pink zink color on the side and is in excellent condition it is a beautiful coin but I have no idea what I have here lol. Can someone please help me out on this one?
It's taking 8 years to answer this? The answer is MAYBE. But they are dated 1964. Hope that settle that. tangentially... what's wrong with the date on this coin...?
It was answered 8 years ago within the first 13 posts, three times. Yes a few do exist accidentally struck on silver planchets intended for 1964 dated coins. The thread kept going because everyone just ignored the original question. and because others kept coming in and asking the same question.
Yeah, I know. My answer apparently did not get any serious consideration, which in reflection, I should applaud, but, I kinda HAD to try, ya know?
Ah, the infamous "struck on hubcap" error! I saw some of those at the show yesterday. They're among the easier errors to spot.
