Are american eagle silver dollars proof overpriced?.

They are one of the best looking coins in American coinge. A huge silver proof coin with a gorgeous design. I say it is not overpriced.

2008 american eagle (w) silver dollar might cost you $25.95 each. the proof currently sell for $31.95 up from $29.95. the silver price currently traded between $16.25 to $16.55.

2007 (w) can easily sell out soon.

 

I think that virtually every mint issue, including SAEs and AGEs, is overpriced.

 

I'll bet there are a lot of collectors that would glady pay $21.95 for an '06 W ASE.

2006 w silver dollar cost only $19.95. if you base modern commemorative proof and unc gap. the different is around 10%. so if am eagle proof cost $31.95 each. then the (w) am eagle unc can go up as high as $28.95. what i am saying is that the unc (w) am eagle is cheap. a bonus from tne mint,

 

Don't forget you might also want to take into account the cost of the packaging in these prices. From the upcoming products I see the mint asks $2 more per coin for the cases vs. the boxes so that may account for some of the difference. I agree though the SE UNC W coins have the least premium.

BTW they have already sold 185,000 of the 2008 silver eagle proof coins.

 

Bet most of those were subscriptions - I would think that the subscription program has worked out well for the mint to help predict inventory needs. Talk about a great forcasting tool. Anyone know approx. what the 2007 numbers were?

the 2008 american eagle silver dollar with (w) mint mark at $25.95 is quite overpriced. current silver is only a little over $9.00. the mint should lowering this item immediately.

 

new prices were overcharged

new prices for gold and platinum coins were overcharged at least by $100.00.

 

lower the price again

in oder to sell the (w) mint mark proof and unc platinum, gold and silver coins. for platinum and gold. the mint should lowering down again the price at least another $100.00 to $150.00.

 

2009 american eagle silver proof dollar is overcharged. bullion silver spot is only $11.25. and the proof eagle is 31.95.

 

You said the same thing about the 2008 silver proof which is now selling for between $85 and $100.
How much do you think the one ounce Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollar will sell for and do you think that will be a fair price?

let's figure it out:

spot gold as of this writing $831.50 per ounce.

mint 2008w one ounce am eagle 1 oz unc - $1,128.00

that's $296.50 different between spot gold and mint's price. or 35.7% over spot.

let's calculate the 1/10 ounce:

mint's price is $129.50. spot price is $83.15. that's is $46.35 different or 55.8% over spot.

the mint even sell the 1/10 at $154.95 before reducing it. that's 86.5 % over spot.

 

i wonder who is in charge the new pricing for u.s. mint. that's a lousy pricing. they should have follow the ways that the northwest mint pricing for the bullion gold and platinum coins.
