I may have mentioned this before but Geta fans should never pass up a Geta as Caesar sestertius. There are enough Geta Augustus sestertii to go around but he was not well represented at the bronze mint when he was younger. Caesar asses are not common but sestertii? --- who has one to show?

My Augustus sestertius is a junker and my only protocontorniate. Another theory not mentioned below is that they were used in standards.

The full beard on Geta places it close to the end of his reign. Many of us collect the portrait series. He also has portraits as a boy. Which portrait of Geta do you want?

    My page: http://esty.ancients.info/Geta/
    discusses his portraits.

Like potato chips, it is hard to eat just one. We give lip service to the concept that there is no wrong way to collect ancient coins but I can never see myself as a one per emperor collector. Geta and quite a few other persons really deserve 2 (or 20?) as much as Marius or Martinian need their single. When it comes to a place in history, Caracalla and Geta established a precedent that would serve the late Romans and Byzantines so well. Kill a brother (father, son, whoever) whenever they get in the way.
