I was referring to the simpulum & lituus. In mine, it is in the "PD" formation. In some of the others, including Mikey"s, it's the opposite. But now that you mention it, does anyone know the significance of the "X" in Mikey's and why it's not on some of the others to include mine?
I don't know which is scarcer due to the placement of the simpulum and lituus, but the inclusion of the X is supposed to make it highly scarce, according to Forum from whence it came....and no one seems to know the actual significance of the X
I believe you can also separate the common reverses from the scarce and rare ones based on the shields. On the scarce and rare versions the right shield is in the front position. On the more common coins the shield on the left is in front. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.
HEY! I was looking for the "X"... Who's the little man wearing a cowboy hat peaking over the shields on @Bing 's Denarius???
What an imagination! I can see it now that you point it out, but I had to squint. Never heard that nor even paid any attention to be honest. I hope someone with some knowledge on the subject chimes in. I would like to know as well.
