    I've always loved the design of this coin. Yours is an excellent example while mine is, well, mine. Not pretty, but affordable.

    Stunning! I don't see how anyone couldn't fall in love with this coin even if they didn't collect ancients. That's the type of coin even a non-numismatist would love.

    Yeah, you are right, it's not pretty, so why don't you send that ugly thing to me and I'll hold it for you free of charge in my collection. That's the kind of friend I am, always sacrificing himself for others.

    In all seriousness, I think it's a charming coin. It may not be XF or AU, but it has a lot of character and it's a silver coin of Augustus. That in itself makes it quite attractive.

    Beautiful coins! And @Bing, I think yours is wonderful too, I would have snapped your coin up if I had seen it first.

    While gold is beautiful, I like the new coin focus @panzerman. Augustus rocks!

    @panzerman Beautiful capture! Well done. You really have a great collection!

    @Bing your coin NAILS it! Despite the break, all of the design is on-flan and centered. GREAT snare! That was a touchdown, and you stole an extra 2-points on a razzle-dazzle play to win the game!

    My deepest thanks to all of you! Getting into Roman Denarius coins was one of the best moves ever, it gets pretty boring if you only go after the Aurei. Basically, one would have to work all year, save up wads of $, then afford ONE or TWO at most....still nice I guess. Emperors like Pupienius/Balbinus/Gordian I/II are affordable in silver/ impossible in AV....unless you are Donald Trump! So, I owe everyone here a great debt of gratitude!

    I guess that depends on how deep your pockets go. I haven't found any of these that fits my budget.

    I'm in total agreement with all the posts, specifically all those comments regarding @panzerman and @Bing's coins...

    Naturally, I'd prefer the OP, but I would have grabbed Bing's just as quickly---

    Huge congrats to both of you!!!

    The image I posted of my coin is terrible so I tried to quickly do another this morning. I think it better reflects the actual coin.

    I only have a quinarius. I have been looking for a nice denarius like those posted here but have not yet found "The" coin yet.

    Notice the difference in the " simpulum & lituus" on your coin and mine. One of the formations is more scarce than the other, but I don't remember which.

    @Bing
    The one with the X, in-between Gauis and Lucius, is scarcer.
    As for the formation, I think the b 9 is a bit more scarce.
