I saw this posted today when I visited the site. Not everyone will care but some may be interested. Talks about the V75 sale, the traffic the site saw and answers some questions I've seen asked here. https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-releases/message-from-united-states-mint-director-david-ryder
Almost the same thing they said in 2011 about the ASE Anniversary 5 Piece Set. They blamed the server and said they would fix it then. What he meant to say was "...I'm from the Government and am here to help..."
Is their server is supposed to be set up for record traffic all the time to make sure it's perfect? Seems like a huge waste to do that for something they need for 30 minutes a year max and get a new record once what every 2-4 years?
I'm not sure. In 2011, I was able to make the purchase I wanted. It did take some time. Others were not. I remember the U S Mint blaming the server. It crashed several times during that process. What you say makes sense. Does it need that capacity for routine business?
I can't speak of 2011, but no their server does not need any where the capacity that would have been necessary for that product. Almost everything is perfectly fine except the big excitement products which are few and far between. It honestly would be a big waste of money for them to beef everything up to accommodate that all the time. If they actually do need that all the time tip of the hat to them and I would think they would upgrade.
Just a note, upgrading “a server” won’t make a big difference ;-) They could request additional computing resources though if they had a scalable cloud solution.
