They are in bed with ebay, and really I never liked them. They are not geared toward the little guy, because they charge like $12 to ship one eagle.
well if you in u.s and buy via that ebay link, it would be free shipping. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and does not have a u.s address ebay account.
I don't know if they are in bed, but it seems they are doing business together. And in this case it seems the consumer benefits from lower prices.
I got this at the coin show. Apmex coupon code ANA2013 Free shipping off $500.00 min purchase expires 8-31-2013
Most of the "big-box" sellers who are in bed with eBay usually get large discounts on fees. I know these "diamond sellers" (as eBay calls them) pay no listing fee at all. I'm sure they get a nice reduction of final value fees. Besides this, I have seen where the diamond sellers have had their feedback "scrubbed" toysrus sold quite a few toys a couple of years ago, well it turns out they did not have any of them, and got over 200 negs, eBay kindly removed them. With most sellers eBay will not remove feedback. Apmex plays the pricing game all the time, and many of their negs is due to cancelled orders. So it does not matter if you buy it for that price, it's up to apmex to accept it. Even though technically it's a legally binding contract, eBay usually turns a blind eye to their "buddies".
This is the case when you buy from their website and I agree the $12.95 shipping is horrendous!! That being said I bought a couple of ATB 5 oz coins last week and shipping for both coins was only $5.25. So not sure why the charge so much for shipping on their regular website. But I got a good deal on the bullion and on the shipping through their ebay site.
